James Hunt was definitely the better commentator than Jackie Stewart, as I noticed on different occasions. He was a very good observer, and his much more trenchant comments were definitely more interesting to listen to. On top of that, he luckily has a much nicer voice. Actually I think James Hunt should have been given the chance to comment on his own, as Murray Walker often adds nothing but confusion.

It is hard to believe what a pompous ass James Hunt was; his commentary, and what seems like a complete lack of understanding of the sport he participated in, makes it all the more amazing he won the World Championship.
I hope Jackie reached over and pimp-slapped James!

  How was James being a ‘pompous ass’.. ? Jackie was blithering-on, stating the obvious (as is his usual thing) and then going on about ‘being able to see the tyre in his mirrors’ when, in fact (as James rightly pointed out) by that time in F1, you couldn’t see the tyres with all of the bodywork – James was just having a light rib at the retired F1 legend – no biggie. Jackie was wrong with his driver analysis anyways… James – ‘a complete lack of understanding of the sport he participated in’… ? ? ? Please… go on.
