The Tyrell was generating some good times in quali with Alesi behind the wheel but I guess it was with the help of those super-sticky 3-lap tires. In race trim it looked totally different, oversteering visibly. The Pirelli’s were never as good as the Goodyears back then. A shame they didn’t have the Honda engine yet. I will never understand his hand positioning on the steering wheel. The Benetton looked like a neutral-handling package at Imola that weekend, rotating nicely on-power, arcing into the corners without too much understeer (unlike Prosts Ferrari), and squirting out of all those low speed corners thanks to its torquey V8. Berger should have won after Senna’s cut tire. The Mclaren wiht Honda power was such a dominant combination then. It never helps being a 6 footer in Formula cars.
