The nice thing about these on-boards from before 88 is that they are using a FILM camera-not video. The frame rate on film really allows for the sensation of speed, where as video seems to over saturate the view and diminishes the scary fast feeling that these clips transmit-probably more true to what the drivers where seeing. With video like Senna qualifying at Suzuka in 89, you still get an impression of great speed, but the straight’s don’t look as fast as they are and it is easier to focus on everything clearly when watching them because of the way the video camera is capturing it.
